A Life of Service and Leadership: Jim Dusza

05/4/26

In 2003, James (Jim) Dusza founded Traveler’s Supply, Inc. As Chief Operating Officer, he expanded the business to include a division for Duration Repellents and later formed Ekard Medical after moving to Maine. Currently operating in West Springfield, MA, the business will soon relocate to a recently purchased property in Kennebunkport. Traveler’s Supply, Inc. specializes in providing health-related products and safety information for international and domestic travelers. Based on its mission, the company focuses on delivering updated health risk advice and preventive measures to ensure travelers remain safe and healthy abroad. During the pandemic in 2020, Traveler’s Supply, Inc. was the vendor of choice for numerous Fortune 500 and global healthcare companies, serving as their primary source for PPE supplies—allowing hospitals to stay open, first responders to stay safe, and businesses to remain operational globally.

Ekard Medical provides custom medical kits, medical supplies, and nutritional supplements for the travel market.

Duration Repellents manufactures permethrin-based products, providing tick and mosquito protection for clothing and gear.

Along with Jim’s professional career, he has also served as a Special Police Officer for over 40 years and currently serves in West Springfield. Starting in the 1980s, Jim has chaired numerous retail merchant associations. His volunteer efforts are extensive, as he believes in the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.”

The highlight of Jim’s volunteer experience is serving as President of the Chicopee Visiting Nurses Association, where he saved the organization from near bankruptcy and helped lead it to financial stability—ultimately allowing the agency to purchase a building and reinstate its employee pension program.
