Who doesn’t love a classic burger and fries with a milkshake? Sometimes, you just need to take a step back and enjoy the simple things. That’s exactly what the owner of Lee Frank’s has done. Expanding from its original location in South Berwick, Lee Frank’s has now opened a second location in Wells, offering a variety of hot dogs and hamburgers — vegetarian options are available too!
Growing up in Los Angeles, California, owner Lee Frank began his culinary journey flipping burgers at a bustling roadside shack. Later, he moved to New England, where he worked as an executive chef at some of the finest restaurants along the Seacoast, including well-known establishments in Ogunquit, Cape Neddick, and Kittery. Eventually, he launched his own high-end, five-course tasting menu at Otis Restaurant in Exeter, New Hampshire.
With the success of Otis, Lee was able to return to his longtime dream of opening a burger and hot dog joint where everyone could enjoy his all-time favorite meal: a cheeseburger with a side of chili fries and a strawberry shake. That dream became a reality with the creation of Lee Frank’s. Lee first opened the South Berwick location in 2021 and has since expanded with a second location in Wells, with a third soon to open in Exeter. The growing popularity of Lee Frank’s proves that people love a great, classic meal in a welcoming setting.
The menu features single and double hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chili burgers, and a veggie burger. The hot dog selection includes options like the New Yorker, the Chicagoan, the chili dog, the chili cheese dog, and the Red Baron, along with a classic plain “naked” dog. A gluten-free bun option is also available. Sides include crinkle-cut fries, onion rings, and salads. For an extra twist, try the “make it dirty” upgrade, which adds house sauce and grilled onions, or top your meal with chili. And of course, no meal is complete without a milkshake—choose from the classics (vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate) or try the daily special, featuring fun new flavors every day.
Whether you're passing through Southern Maine or the Exeter area, looking for a lunch break spot, a weekend dinner destination, or a casual after-school hangout with friends, remember to stop by Lee Frank’s for a meal that’s as delicious as it is timeless!
